Karin Ursin
Karin Ursin, flutist and piccoloist, was born and raised in the Chicago area. She is a former member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic and Syracuse Symphony. Karin obtained her bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance from Northwestern University where she studied with the legendary Walfrid Kujala. She pursued post-graduate studies with Trevor Wye at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. Karin regularly performs with many of the city’s top musical groups including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Philharmonic and the Grant Park Symphony. She has been on the flute faculty at Ithaca College, NY, Credo Flute Summer Intensive and given masterclasses and recitals around the country. Through the Chicago Philharmonic community engagement program she mentors students in Chicago high schools and currently enjoys teaching privately in her home studio.
