Mark Lekas

Mark Lekas currently enjoys an active musical life in Chicago. He is principal cellist with the Northwest Indiana Symphony, a member of the Lake Forest Symphony, Ars Viva orchestra, and a substitute with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He also performs with the Pilgrim Chamber Players. Mark was a member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the New American Chamber Orchestra, the Salem String Quartet, and the Grammy-nominated Nashville Chamber Orchestra. He has performed many times on WFMT’s Live from Studio One series and for dozens of musicals with Broadway in Chicago Productions. Mark was a full scholarship student at Eastman School of Music where he studied with Paul Katz. Other teachers have included Zara Nelsova, Steven Kates, and Leonard Chausow. Mark lives in Willowbrook with his wife Michele and their two children, Sophie and Janes. In his spare time, he enjoys home brewing and hop growing.
