Graeme Shields
Graeme Shields is a Canadian-born composer and organist. His compositions, influenced by the Lutheran music tradition and the experimental confidence of the avant-garde have garnering performances across the U.S., Canada, Costa Rica, Finland and Russia. He is a co-founder of Vital Organ Project, a non-profit that facilitates the creation, education, and performance of new music featuring the abilities and distinction of the pipe organ. Graeme holds degrees from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and Western Michigan University. Graeme is currently the director of Music Ministries at Redeemer Lutheran Chruch in Hinsdale where he directs the choir, handbells, and children’s choir. He lives in Oak Park with his wife, Gaby, and their dog and bunny, Nellie and Nora.
