Kate Carter
Kate Carter’s musical versatility makes her equally at home in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings. A prizewinner in various competitions, she made her debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall in 2014. As concerto soloist, Kate has performed many times with the Elmhurst Symphony, with whom she is Assistant Concertmaster. Together with fellow WSMC member Louise Chan, she is a founding member of Blue Violet Duo, whose debut album, American Souvenirs, was selected as WFMT’s “New Release of the Day” in October 2018. Kate also performs with Camerata Chicago, Chicago Philharmonic, Fulcrum Point New Music Project and other Chicago-based ensembles. Kate holds a Doctorate of Music in Violin Performance from Northwestern University and a Master of Music from Eastman. She teaches at Lake Forest College, Northwestern Music Academy and her private studio.
